The Royal Sun Restaurant & Lounge is a Tucson Landmark located in the Downtown Tucson area. We are just blocks from the U of A Campus, the Tucson Convention Center and centrally located to many of Tucson’s tourist attractions as we are right off Highway I-10. We have been in business since 1969 and proudly serving the local residents, business organizations, University staff and students and of course, our hotel guests at the BEST WESTERN Royal Sun.
We are open for Breakfast from 6:00 am to 11:00 am and for dinner from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. We offer some great dinner specials made of freshest ingredients. Our guests enjoy relaxing in our cozy bar, sit by the fireplace & enjoy having a drink or two after long day of business or sightseeing.
We do offer a small meeting/banquet room at our restaurant. If you are looking to have a small family gathering, business meeting or a birthday party, please contact us.
Had dinner there tonight and thought the food was fantastic! I have steak Diane and my daughter had lamb chop her friend a burger. Everything was homemade and delicious. Very reasonable prices will definitely go again!
“Well worth the 2000 miles”
Oh my friends…. Please don’t be fooled by the 60’s look! We thought being on the road this was going to be another crappy on the road meal! We were so wrong Matt the bartender is great we ate at the bar had a blast…. Dinner was Stake Diane and then Christmas on a plate for dessert sweet potato cheesecake and a great cup of coffee. The service was the best in 2000 miles please ask for Lea…… Tell her Cari sent you……Don’t miss it really 5 stars from me.
“A hidden gem”
Unfortunately the restaurant is not near any attractions/businesses so it was never busy during the 2 meals i had there. I guess the majority of customers are from the nearby hotel which is a shame. People are missing out. I would guess most of their customers are from the adjacent Best Western Hotel of which we stayed. Good food at good prices and very friendly and efficient service. Life is not fair knowing I’ve had worse food & service at more popular locations at higher prices, there is no God.
Besides the regular menu items, they also make the efforts to have daily specials. They’re keeping it real.
“Surprisingly good for a hotel cafe!”
Nice variety of tasty dishes and so convenient. The two-for-one drinks coupons are good here. We enjoyed the house wine. The service is fast and friendly.
“Favorite new local joint”
I have been here three times now and I have had the best food and service every time. I live in the neighborhood and never thought it to be much more than a hotel diner until I saw an ad for a one pound burger they have. I love a good burger and this did not disappoint. Since then I’ve tried a Shrimp Carbonara Pasta and a BBQ Rib special they were running one night. They also have some great local craft beer on tap. The servers are always really friendly and make you feel welcome. I don’t usually write too many reviews, but this place deserves to be recognized.
“Looks Can Be Deceiving”
A clean and well kept older building. The wait staff is surprisingly fast, the food is hot when served (one of my biggest pet peeves is luke warm food), and they have a full menu (breakfast to dinner), with the lounge open ’til 10 towards the end of the week. Out of the dozen or so times I have eaten here, as well as an occasional evening cocktail, I have never been disappointed.

we dined at this restaurant on 8 Sept 2014 and enjoyed it so much that although we live in Sierra Vista, we returned on 10 Sept 2014. This restaurant is definitely Tucson’s best kept secret. The menu is well diversified, the staff is friendly and happy, I even heard singing from the kitchen staff. On our first visit we had rib eye steak, and on the second I had Tuna steak and my wife had the Chicken warped with prosciutto. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate this experience a 9. The food is prepared and presented by chiefs in a way that befits a 4 star (****) Restaurant. If you want to do yourself a favor and treat yourself to 4 star cuisine, at a 2 star price you must dine at this restaurant, I can guarantee that if you try it once, you will return.
